Torchwood: The Complete First Season, Blu-ray Set Review

Posted 07-23-2009 at 06:50 AM by Aronian

I have just finished watching the first 13 episodes of a show that first aired on the BBC in England called Torchwood.

The show is enigmatic and hard to pin down. It is part X-files, part CSI, part Stargate, and ALL British. I found there to be a great deal of variance between my enjoyment of the episodes. Some were very good, had high production values, involving, interesting and affecting. However a few are just plain terrible. There is an episode that involves a man's love

Blu-ray Review: "Flawless" (2007)

Posted 07-07-2009 at 09:42 AM by Aronian

I recently watched this film because I love crime capers. This one was done by Magnolia Pictures which is partly owned by Mark Cuban.

If I become a billionaire, I am going to open a small art house movie studio too. Kind of like this business/website I opened to fulfill a dream.

First off let me say the video quality is "flawless" very sharp even on a 160" screen. Easy 5 out of 5 for video quality.

The Criterion Collection on Blu-ray: Reviewing "Last Year at Marienbad" (1961) B&W

However it is fun to watch these old movies remastered through a brand new telecine in 1080P on Blu-ray, because the old film captured a ton of detail that they did not have the equipment to display back then. You can see the lines on the

Blu-ray Review: Inkheart

Posted 07-04-2009 at 07:06 PM by Aronian

I am going to keep this one short and sweet. Unless you are 12 or under stay away from "Inkheart."

Brendan Frasier has never been a great actor, and I think his career peaked with the release of the first installment in "The Mummy" series.

This movie had weak special effects in an age where CGI is cheap, bad acting, and like I said unless you are in the age group of about 9-12, there is nothing to see here.

There was absolutely no "wow"

Vicki Christina Barcelona - a Blu-ray Movie Review

Posted 06-23-2009 at 08:29 AM by Aronian

So first I must confess that I am a Woody Allen fan for the most part, and Annie Hall was a formative adolescent experience much in the same way that Portnoy's Complaint was.

I went into the movie with mixed feeling as recent Woody Allen films I had not enjoyed as much as the old ones. I was convinced he had lost his touch, but put the Blu-ray movie into the player anyway.

First let me say, that technically the movie is great 4.5/5 for picture quality and 4.0/5 for
